About Jess and Jesstival

The story of Jess is long and boring. The most important bits are that I'm a 28 year old man from Canada who is teaching English in China. I've been teaching English in China since September 2008 and have been using this website to communicate with my family and friends back home.

Jesstival is so much more than just Jess + Festival = Jesstival. Jesstival began in 2008 before I left for China. It was a combination birthday and going away party and several friends from across Canada made it out to Victoria for the party. The day was named Jesstival and would become the most important holiday of the year. After the first year in China, Jesstival 2009 took place in China with one of my friends making the trip to China to celebrate it with me.

Jesstival.com was used for the first year as a joke about the holiday, while extra folders were used to house several blogs. Now it exists simply as a hobby where I can write about things that I think about. I've decided not to use Wordpress or any other fancy content delivery services, opting to use just a regular .html page and the help of Dreamweaver.
